Doctors rely on x-rays in a lot for diagnostic purposes. They do a lot of very good things, particularly in trauma situations. They can tell us if something is fractured, or if there is an organ that is ruptured, or if there is some bleeding internally. Inflammation has now been shown to promote healing, so using anti-inflammatory analgesics, while they control pain and swelling, retard healing. Injuries stimulate the production of IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor) and the body manages a symphony when it comes to regulating inflammation and healing. Ebola and Marburg viruses cause hemorrhagic illnesses characterized by bleeding, multi-organ failure, and in 50-90%, death. There is a clear link between all NSAIDs and heart attacks. The differences between COX 1 and 2 inhibitors is discussed. Aspirin's side effects are described and make one wonder about what MDs are doing by recommending aspirin for heart attack prevention when fish oil is equally effective and far less likely to have side effects.

Even a few NSAIDs may be unsafe if you have heart disease. Shockingly data on 83,000 patients shows that even a week of treatment led to another heart attack or dying 45% more often if they had a prior heart attack. The percentage rose to 60% if treatment was for 30 days. There is no safe window for NSAIDs in people with a prior heart attack. There...

Pradaxa is currently the only FDA approved drug that inhibits factor Xa and seems to have significant advantages over Coumadin. Early studies have shown a 21% less likely risk of stroke in atrial fibrillation, a 31% lower risk of bleeding, and an 11% lower mortality rate. Two drugs under study by the FDA now include Xarelto, and Eliquis.

Medical professional groups and cancer advocacy groups need to refocus on educating rather than persuading about cancer testing. The harms of screening have been largely dismissed. It is easy to sell screening, just magnify the benefit, minimize the cost, and hide the data about their value.
These tests are big business and there are conflicts...

Combining SSRI antidepressants with aspirin or other NSAIDs can lead to a 42% increase risk for bleeding. SSRIs may inhibit the uptake and storage of serotonin by platelets. Low platelet serotonin leads to reduced platelet aggregation and a tendency to bleed.
Considering that SSRIs have little evidence that they work better than placebo and that...
