Aspirin is the most used drug in the US. They are not safe because of bleeding and perforations. Over the counter substitutes are readily available and work well and their acceptance.

Fish oil and flax seed oil are both excellent sources of omega 3 fatty acids. Not everyone can convert what is in flax to the active omega 3 and 6 oils that we need. Fish oil is easily contaminated by heavy metals.

Increasing omega 3 intake my lower both anxiety symptoms and proinflammatory cytokines. Medical students receiving omega 3 supplements for 3 months showed a 20% reduction in anxiety and 14% reduction in interleukin 6, a proinflammatory cytokine. An omega 3 deficiency is associated with increased anxiety, which is very common in the US.

The potato has gotten a bad rap! It is good for lowering blood pressure and it is the richest and most economical veggie source of potassium. It has many other vitamins, minerals, and nutrients such as vitamin C and catalase. The cost of potassium rich white potatoes was half that of most other veggies. It is what we put on the potato that can get us into trouble....

A study from Oxford University that was published in the Journal of Sleep Research in March of 2014 showed that among 362 children between the ages of 7-9 slept significantly longer when on a course of supplements containing the omega 3 essential fatty acid DHA.
