According to a January 2012 article published in Diabetes Care, people infected with H. pylori are more than twice as likely to develop type 2 diabetes than those without the infection. Clearly, this is an association, not a cause because although 97% of those testing positive for the microbe and developing type 2 diabetes, 91% who did not develop type 2 diabetes....

The January 6, 2013 issue of the journal, GUT, reported that in a 12 year study of 10,000 people, the presence of a very virulent strain of H. pylori protected against stroke and lung cancer. A study from the UK published in October of 2012 on 10,000 people over the age of 50 showed that seniors who enjoy life live longer. The Framingham Study showed that for every rise of 1 mg/dL of HDL cholesterol, there was a 2% drop in the risk of an MI. However, not all HDL cholesterol is protective. HDL's protective effect depends on the environment in which it exists. In premenopausal women, generally HDL is protective. However, in postmenopausal women who have the metabolic syndrome...

Treatment to increase HDL cholesterol has been viewed as useful, but new data published in the journal Lancet in May of 2012, suggests that there's no value in doing so to prevent heart attacks. It could be that HDL is a marker for increased risk for heart attack, much like the PSA is a marker for prostate cancer. This does not mean that statin...

Headaches in kids are more common than most of us appreciate; perhaps 4% of all children have chronic headaches. Trauma is a common cause from injuries. Misalignment of the spine is a common finding, especially in the cervical spine. Stress is common for most kids; life has become very complicated and difficult to balance. There are an enormous number of causes for headaches that include caffeine withdrawl, migraine, TMJ, stress, muscle contraction, and other vascular-related causes. Treating the cause is important, but most of the time our doctors are delighted when they can treat the pain successfully. NSAIDS are often used but they are not safe. There are many other approaches...

The vast majority of illnesses are changeable with our thought processes. Your experience of health is related to how you process information. Conflict is what leads to disease. The bipolar universe encourages conflict. Being present and oneness lead to love and connection and compassion for all things. The new paradigm honors unity.

Psychic healing has always existed. Dr. Blasband trained with Nicolai Levishov to learn how to use intention for healing both somatic and psychological problems. This system changes the circuitry of the brain through entrainment. Healers effect change in their patients through their relationship with them and by changing aspects of their resonance.

Health care costs cause half of all bankruptcies in the US and 94% are threatened by them. Even major corporations cannot compete with foreign businesses because of the cost of health insurance. The failure of the congressional super committee triggers a 2% across the board cut to Medicare. This is just the beginning of what is likely to happen to Medicare services as Congress attempts to balance the nation's budget.. This, of course, will lead to fewer MDs and hospitals accepting Medicare patients. It will also most likely lead to raising...

Indigenous peoples live an average age well beyond 100 years. They lived healthy lifestyles and ate natural food and exercised. We have fundamentally changed the parameters of human existence. We have poor food and load ourselves with toxins and live with high stress. This is why we're not healthy.

Health care reform is in the news but it is no more than insurance reform and preservation of the status quo for Big Pharma and the medical industry. Certainly we all deserve health care, but we also need a system that preserves wellness and is focused on prevention. The corruption of Congress, Big Pharma, medical insurance, FDA, CDC, medical education and medical...

2009-10 was designated as the time when Americans would see Health Care reform. However, what we got was insurance reform, and not a whole lot of it. This was necessary but insufficient...we must shift from disease thinking to health thinking.

Dr. Lonnie Bristow and Dr. Len held a town hall meeting on health care reform with the two MDs from different perspectives. We need a health care reform that includes wellness and prevention as well as health care for all.
