According to researchers at the University of California Medical Center, and published in the March issue of Internal Medicine, screening for breast cancer every two years is preferrable to yearly screens when doing mammograms. This was based on a study of 900,000 women. It appears that this applies to women from the age of 50-94. Mammograms picked...

MRIs overdiagnose cancer but are too sensitive to be used as a primary screening tool, however, they are useful in assessing the extent of a cancer, once it is identified. They are costly but do not have radiation.

No mainstgream screening test is reliable and they can lead to widespread overtreatment. A positive mammogram leads to too many biopsies, especially in dense breasts. Breast thermography is superior.

Screening for breast cancer is confusing and mammogams in younger women are simply not reliable. The screening tool that does work very well is breast thermography. The early work on this is reviewed.

Breast thermograpy is the best screening technology in medicine for breast cancer in pre-menopausal women. There is no radiation and there are few false positive and negative results. Mammography is compared.

The FDA published information in Journal Watch in June of 2011 that is packed with presumptive and incorrect information about breast thermography and they have to know it! Breast thermography was approved in 1982 as an adjunct to mammography to evaluate for breast cancer. In 2004 the FDA rejected breast thermography as a stand alone test for breast...

The Journal of the National Cancer Institute published an article saying that colonoscopy for primary screening might be going too far. I agree! The benefits, harms, and costs have not been determined. Checking the stool for ocult blood and flexible sigmoidoscopy have been shown to be of value but there's no data showing that colonoscopy gives additional...

Do digital mammograms add much over conventional mammograms, especially for premenopausal women? How much radiation is saved? Are they safe in genetic forms of cancer? Are we finding too many cancers?

The prevention of disease means decreasing our Electro Magnetic Field. Electro Magnetic pollution should be a concern for everybody. Just what effect does EMF have on our bodies? Does using a cell phone increase our risk of brain cancer?

Mammograms under age 50 are controversial. The prestigious Cochrane Study Group concluded that they lead to overdiagnosis and overtreatment. Mammograms use x-rays to differentiate tissue density that is normal or cancerous; this is very difficult in women under age 50 because they have dense breast tissue that is similar to that of breast cancers. It takes almost...

Is there a need for virtual colonoscopies? In fact, is there a need for any colonoscopies in asymptomatic people? There is a lot of controversy on this topic. The advantage of virtual colonoscopy is that it is easier for the patient, but it also delivers a hefty dose of radiation and often required a regular colonoscopy if there are abnormal findings.

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) reviewed data about possible environmental risks for developing breast cancer. They felt that pesticides, beauty products, heousehold chemicals, and plastics might or might not be risk factors for breasts cancer. They did agree that medical x-rays were a clear risk for developing breast cancer. They recommended that...

Exercising after completing chemotherapy boosts immunity by replacing senescent NK cells with vibrant, healthy NK cells that can fight against the progression of cancer according to an October 2012 article presented at the Integrative Biology of Exercise in October of 2012. This study out of the University of Nebraska studied people who participated...

Any crisis offers the opportunity to learn and Japan's experience with radiation is not an exception. They already are doing a lot that is part of the reason why they already live 8 years longer than we in the US. They have a detoxification diet that is part of their routine lifestyle that includes sea vegetables and foods high in sulfur. In particular they...

There is a turf war between mainstream oncologists and CAM doctors that leads to an adversarial and competitive stance that is not in the patient's best interest. There is enough cancer around, but there aren't enough cures! Integrative oncology is sadly needed, but greed has gotten in the way of working together for the best interest of the patient....

Doctors rely on x-rays in a lot for diagnostic purposes. They do a lot of very good things, particularly in trauma situations. They can tell us if something is fractured, or if there is an organ that is ruptured, or if there is some bleeding internally. They are not necessarily all that safe, and there are a lot of complications from x-rays that we need...

The Fukushima nuclear reactor disaster is the worst in the history of the world. And it is far from over. There are 11,000 spent fuel rods in danger of melting down and exposing the northern hemisphere with more than 330 million Curies of radiation; 134 million Curies is from cesium 137. There has been no significant effort to decontaminate this disaster.
The...

WHY WE MUST SAY NO TO 5G TECHNOLOGY
There has been a lot of talk about the benefits of 5G radio frequency waves in recent months. And, it won’t be long before it will be accessible across the entire globe through an extensive network of cell phone towers and satellites that are being installed as you read this. The excitement is about...

According to a paper presented at the December 2013 annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, breast tomosynthesis (a limited CT scan of the breast) is a better test than the digital mammogram because it is a more sensitive test that finds breast cancers (22% more), is it associated with a lower recall rate because of false positive tests (15%fewer),...

Mammograms are a poor screening test for premenopausal women. There are too many false positive and negative findings. Breast thermography is the answer. They have not been widely accepted.
