An article published in the January 2014 issue of Health Affairs reported on cost effectiveness of PepsiCo's workplace wellness program and reported that it had no significant value when it came to financial benefit or for cutting absenteeism, quitting smoking, or reducing weight. They went on to state that regular screening for early detection of diseases...

Health care costs are no longer affordable. We have a model based on getting sick rather than on staying well. This is a failed system: half of us have a chronic disease, the system is not safe, and we cannot afford to sustain it.

submitted by: admin on 11/22/2024
Health care costs cause half of all bankruptcies in the US and 94% are threatened by them. Even major corporations cannot compete with foreign businesses because of the cost of health insurance. We need health care reform to control costs. This likely means a new paradigm based on wellness and prevention are necessary.

People need to work on being healthy rather than waiting until they get sick. How Do We Diagnose Your Health? In medicine they diagnose disease, but what do you do to diagnose health? What is this thing called the wellness buffer? How do we put space between ourselves and when our bodies start to malfunction?
Dr. Len and Dr. Kunin discuss taking the...

We all too often focus on how sick we are, but it also makes sense to focus on how healthy can we be. Lifestyle is the most powerful medicine. Orthomolecular medicine uses naturally occuring substances to support health and wellness and prevent disease. "Naturology" or natural medicine, or naturopathy puts nutrition first...that comes before drugs but...

Insurance companies depend on our being sick to make a profit. Physicians released the purse strings of medicine to the insurance industry. Now they control the practice of medicine. MDs need to take back this financial authority..

When you have a diagnosis of cancer, choosing a treatment is very challenging. We cannot go to a single practitioner most of the time because they know either mainstream or CAM approaches. The major mainstream approach is to fight the cancer, to kill it. The major approach of CAM practitioners is to strengthen the body so it can deal with cancer itself....

A sedentary lifestyle increases the risk for many diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, hypertension and much more. Should lack of exercise be considered a medical condition. A researcher from the Mayo Clinic published an article in the August 2012 issue of the Journal of Physiology stating that a lack of exercise should be considered...

The government has taken the position that health care reform will lead to cost savings by being more proficient. However, we're adding 30 million more people to the system and are still trying to save costs...where's the logic? The problem is that the economy cannot stand to reduce health care costs because it is an economic stimulus in itself.

Lifestyle is our most powerful medicine, is safe, and within our control to use. Even our genetic code, DNA, is clearly modifyable through lifestyle practices. Our belief system also has a powerful effect on our health; examples are provided. Phamacological drugs can be lifesaving, but compared to lifestyle medicine they are usually minor players.
