Mammograms at age 50

submitted by: admin on 10/10/2013

In a recent report on mammograms published in the New York Times, they say that most women should start breast cancer screening at age 50 not 40 according to new guidelines.  They also recommend mammograms be done every two years rather than every year. The new recommendations are aimed at reducing harm from over treatment.  The report also suggests that doctors should stop teaching women to examine their breasts on a regular basis.  The report makes no mention of using breast thermography which can be much more accurate.
