Tinnitus affects 50 million Americans and treatment in mainstream medicine has been very limited. Perhaps the best treatment widely available in clinical practice comes from chiropractic manipulation of the cervical spine and the TMJ joint. New research suggests that transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) can be helpful. It is now being recommended for depressed people who have not been improved by antidepressant medication.
There are a wide range of causes for tinnitus that include treatment with antibiotics, allergies, infections, wax, chemotherapy, aspirin, NSAIDs, tumors of the auditory nerve, and many other conditions.
It seems ridiculous to use medications with so many dangerous side effects when there are safe and effective approaches such as TMS, chiropractic, and now infrared light therapy.
