Oregon and Washington have legalized physician-assisted suicide and now Vermont is considering this option as well. Since 1998 in the state of Oregon there have been 1050 requests for doctor-assisted suicide and of those 673 have taken their lives. Both the patient's primary care physician and a consulting doctor must agree and patients must administer their own lethal injection. Patients must also request this again two weeks after the first request.
Vicki and I believe that this is a personal decision that is between the patient and his or her spiritual belief system.
