Abdominal fat causes inflammation and osteoporosis. So the metabolic syndrome is associated with bone thinning as well as insulin resistance, hypertension, elevated triglycerides and fat storage. It is very important to avoid sugar, especially high fructose corn syrup, and to exercise to lose abdominal fat. Lifestyle is important medicine.

A study published in the August issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences showed that diets high in methylglyoxal, which is produced by dry heat, caused mice to develop early insulin resistance and increased body fat over four generations. This did not happen in the control mice not fed methylglyoxal. The abdominal fat in these mice...

Low fat foods tend to be replaced with sugar and extra sugar is converted to fat. Excess sugar also leads to high insulin levels, hypertension, high triglycerides, and abdominal obesity. High fat, low carb diets lead to using fat for energy production, which is a healthy thing.

Fat substitutes such as Olestra result in weight gain, not loss! They disrupt the body's mechanisms to control food intake. Olestra works by binding up to 8 triglyceride molecules in such a way that the enzyme lipase cannot begin the fat digestive process and it passes out with the stool. Side effects include abdominal cramping, diarrhea, and oily stools....

Is mercury really an issue with amalgams? Amalgams are the silver fillings we have in our teeth. Just one filling exceeds the EPA’s limit for an adult and has for over a hundred years. While you chew, an amalgam can release toxic vapors. Inhaled elemental mercury vapor is more toxic that if you were to swallow liquid mercury.

Triglycerides are defined. We need them for energy, energy storage, insulation, mambrane function. When levels are too high problems follow. Diets too high in sugar lead to high levels of insulin and of triglycerides as well as blood pressure and a tendency to lay down fat. Exercise is the antidote to this, as is a low carbohydrate diet. We burn fat as our primary...
