Research has documented that 91% of randomized clinical trials that have a financial conflict of interest (FCOI) have a positive outcome compared to those that do not. Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women between the age of 40-44. We are trying to find breast cancers earlier in hopes of curing more. Yet screening technology is not working. Of the women who had breast cancer 28% had a mammogram and it was missed. Most biopsies are negative; this leads to excess cost and worry.

Fish oil can lower blood pressure a little in overweight teens. Yet lifestyle remains the most important treatment for hypertension. Diet, exercise, and stress reduction should be included in the curiculum of every school at every level for many reasons. Treating the underlying causes of hypertension needs to be addressed.

Fish oil supplementation is the rule in Europe CCUs and hardly used in the US. The values of essential fatty acids are reviewed. It is far superior to aspirin for anticoagulation because of its saftey profile. We need comparative studies in a clinical trial.

Fish oil and flax seed oil are both excellent sources of omega 3 fatty acids. Not everyone can convert what is in flax to the active omega 3 and 6 oils that we need. Fish oil is easily contaminated by heavy metals.
